Reporting using an automated platform on a global scale

at BDO Global Office

The BDO Global Office 1 coordinates services for the fast-growing public accounting, tax and advisory firms that provide professional services under the BDO name in 164 countries and territories. BDO Global Office needed a secure and compliant data platform that could centralise the extraction, load, and transformation (ELT) of data from different sources as well as an efficient, compliant, and secure capability to share the data with the BDO firms. The BDO Global Office worked together with Mountain Platform’s team members to design and deliver the platform on Microsoft Azure.

The challenge: Create a scalable platform on a global scale that can provide data to all subsidiaries

The BDO Global Office provides services to the BDO firms and was looking for a secure and compliant way to share data from these services with BDO firms all over the world. The solution needed to be compliant with different BDO firms’ data residency and compliancy needs as well as with functional needs set forth. The solution also needed to be compliant with the architecture standards, policies, and guidelines to align properly with solutions already in place.

The solution: A global scale platform complying to all security and compliancy requirements

The BDO Global Office worked closely with Mountain Platform’s team members to design and implement a global data platform on Azure. The platform centralises the ELT processes and technology in an efficient way to promote re-use while maintaining security, compliance, and residency requirements from the BDO firms. BDO firms now have secure and compliant access to their data hosted in BDO Global Office solutions. The platform is built on Azure PaaS services and follows Microsoft and industry best practices and standards.

“Cloud and data technology are complex and constantly evolving areas. Mountain Platform’s experts were able to condense best practice guidance from the industry and Microsoft, helping us create a centralised data platform that can be used to securely extract, load, transform and share data with BDO firms in compliant and efficient manner. Our engagement was a mutually beneficial and positive experience.”

Each of BDO International Limited, Brussels Worldwide Services BV and the BDO member firms is a separate legal entity and has no liability for another entity’s acts or omissions. Neither BDO International Limited nor any other central entities of the BDO network provide services to clients. BDO is the brand name for the BDO network and for each of the BDO member firms”.
